'True Grit' gets a decidedly ungritty teaser trailer

Sure, there's plenty of dust, but where's the grit? This slick teaser trailer comes from the Coen brothers, the duo who brought you No Country For Old Men, The Big Lebowski, Burn After Reading, and a bunch of other strange, but funny, but serious movies. True Grit has a superb cast including Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin, Matt Damon, and Hailee Steinfeld. Like most Ethan and Joel Coen films, it's hard to say what this movie is actually about, but I did find a description!

Here's the official synopsis:

Fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross’s (Hailee Steinfeld) father has been shot in cold blood by the coward Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), and she is determined to bring him to justice. Enlisting the help of a trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), she sets out with him — over his objections — to hunt down Chaney. Her father’s blood demands that she pursue the criminal into Indian territory and find him before a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) catches him and brings him back to Texas for the murder of another man.

True Grit hits theaters on Dec. 25, 2010.
