Zombieland is one of my favorite films of 2009 and it looks like it may have ranked pretty high on movie studio executive lists as well. /Film reports that Paramount has hired Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to write the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The news is elating since it would mean two good writers are attached to write a sequel to what I consider an awful movie. The Rise of Cobra, like many blockbusters, was written by a mish-mash of 3-6 screenwriters.
A couple days ago, Fox/Marvel announced that they've hired the duo to write the Ryan Reynolds superhero movie, Deadpool. The flick is kind of a spin off to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which had Renolds as Deadpool in it. No director or schedule for Deadpool has been confirmed, as the project is still a ways out.
